10:32 AM ET 06.29 | The ramp at Madison Square Garden wasn't big enough for Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Garnett, so now we're about to find out if they can peacefully coexist in the Big Apple. The Brooklyn Nets' blockbuster trade with the Celtics on Thursday -- it won't be official until July 10 -- spices up an already compelling Knicks-Nets rivalry and adds more intrigue to the ongoing, and occasionally bizarre, feud between the teams' two biggest stars, Anthony and Garnett. Of course, it's hard to imagine Garnett and Anthony replicating the madness that ensued on Jan. 7 after the Celtics defeated the Knicks in a game that ended with Anthony chasing Garnett to the Celtics' locker room and then confronting the future Hall of Fame forward outside the Celtics' team bus. Anthony had told teammates that Garnett "disrespected me" by making a derogatory comment about Anthony's celebrity wife, La La Vazquez. There were Internet reports that Garnett told Anthony, "Your wife tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios," which both players denied. The NBA, however, wasn't thrilled with Anthony's postgame behavior and suspended the Knicks' All-Star forward for one game. Hours after the game, Anthony and Garnett spoke briefly over the telephone to settle their differences, but there was additional fallout. Garden chairman James Dolan, upset that Garnett wasn't punished for his crude remarks, ordered that high-tech microphones be used at home games to record opposing players taunting Anthony.
