02:08 PM ET 06.29 | San Francisco 49ers running back Marcus Lattimore is one of the guys that you can't help but to root for. After suffering a horrifying knee injury at South Carolina, Lattimore was able to stay focused and work his way back to the field. It took countless hours of intense rehab, but Lattimore is finally in the NFL and closer to reaching his ultimate dream. While Lattimore won't be ready for training camp, he believes that he will be ready to start participating in practice for the 49ers by midseason.

He'll probably start out on their PUP list.

After I saw that injury, I thought he'd have trouble walking for the next decade. Good for him.

I'd like to see him do Willis McGahee proud!

He will not be involved in any full contact drills or practices until 2014. The only thing that could change that timeline is if the 49ers have a rash of injuries to their RB's and are forced to hurry him along.

As a 49er fan I do not expect to see either Lattimore or Crabtree play in a single game this season. It has been 8 months since 49er RB Kendall Hunter tore his achilles and they are questioning if he will be ready for the start of training camp. It is good that Crabtree has set a goal for his recovery time, and everyone heals from wounds at their own pace. I would have never expected Adrian Peterson to have the year he did last year.
