02:12 PM ET 06.29 | The Celtics have jump-started their rebuild with the trade of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry to the Nets, but the big moves may not be done yet. Boston may look to trade star point guard Rajon Rondo, who is currently rehabbing from a torn ACL. The Mavs are one potential trading partner, and the two teams are reportedly in talks about a deal. Dallas did just trade Shane Larkin, so he could be an intriguing chip in a possible trade.

Assuming Boston gets fair compensation, this would be a good deal for both sides.

the Celts should have done all these moves 1 year earlier....

if they would have their rebuild would already be under way and they could have gotten way more for Garnett, Pierce and Rondo

Danny Ainge waiting until this offseason really set the Celtics back big time

Dam the mavs would be pretty good if they could land a deal to get rondo.....just imagine if they could sign Dwight and trade for rondo man Rondo, Howard and Nowitzki now that'd be a pretty dece big 3, put a 3 point shooter er 2 in that line up and they could be unstoppable.....if it'd work Rondo, Mayo, Morrow(or marion), Nowitki and Howard

If Rondo is so good, why trade him? Boston, after the last few days, I thought were centering the team around Rondo...

They don't like his attitude and no one is ever positive they'll be fine coming off an injury like that and for some odd reason they want to start completely from scratch witch I don't understand, why not keep your allstar pg

That's a tough call. If I was a GM, I would have a tough time blowing up a team that I knew would make it into the playoffs.

Destructive Danny is at it again. It all started with Kendrick. Usually that's all it takes. One terrible move, and you have to keep making more terrible moves to make up for the first one.

Boston was done when they traded KP. Trying to find a matchup for Lebron was a dumb move, you won't, what you have to do if take advantage of your matchup mismatches and hope that it is enough.

That's what the Mavs did to beat them in '11, they took advantage of their mismatches, guard play and front court play mixed in with a little Dirk and a whole lot of dumb Spo.

When a team stops playing to their identity they usually fail. That's what Destructive Danny did, he tried to turn the C's into something they weren't now they are gone. Just faded away like POOF! Gone.

I do agree that Celtics missed on atleast one more ring with that KP trade during the season. It wasn't just KP's stats on the floor, but it pretty much killed the locker room atmosphere after that. And last year was the time to have stated rebuilding /o adding contracts of Terry, Lee etc; That was stupid. Also Green getting almost $12M per is ridiculous especially after he was coming back from a open heart surgery. It wasn't like there was serious competition for his services.
Ainge needs to go.

No more Doc Rivers to reign him in when needed.

Rondo is not mature enough to lead the rebuilding of a young team.
He's all about Rajon, and without Doc to lead he could poison a locker room.
Danny needs to find some team leadership if they are to rebuild successfully.

You Got Nothing, Bros.

June 30, 2013  10:13 PM ET

Rondo and Howard together, why Bros?

July 1, 2013  12:22 AM ET

from what ive read, Rondo is not going anywhere(at least not cheap)

Rondo is a stat hound. He plays for numbers and that sometimes is not what the team needs. He is emotional and immature but he can lock up with any of the top point guards in the league. I would not trade him to Dallas, the players and picks available are not worth it. He may not like it but if Ainge is going to trade him he should do so to one of the bottom feeders like Charlotte, Orlando or Sacramento. Unprotected draft picks from with of those teams would be far more valuable than some mid to late first rounder from a contender.
