08:33 AM ET 06.30 | Stanford received a huge but expected verbal commitment from one of the best players in the Class of 2014, as quarterback Keller Chryst gave his pledge to the Cardinal on Friday. Arguably the nation's top pro-style quarterback in the 2014 class, the 6-4, 220-pounder from Palo Alto High School (Palo Alto, CA) chose to play for David Shaw and Co. over offers from major programs such as Alabama, USC and Pittsburgh, where his uncle, Paul Chryst, is the head coach. Chryst, who is the son of San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks coach Geep Chryst, has good poise and possesses very good fundamentals. He becomes the seventh commitment for the Cardinal in the 2014 cycle.

Who will the NFL look for 1st.. Shaw or Sumlin...Both seem destined...Shaw has impressed me so far... Didnt think he would do this well

Yep. Both IMHO...and pretty fast unless they fall completely apart.

Next question to be answered is do either want it?

But Shaw was handed a pretty good team by Harbaugh.
While Sumlin was left some good recruits at A&M, he had to do much more to get his program where it is than Shaw did.

I agree with you about Shaw being handed a good team. Shaw has impressed me in keeping it going.

Sumlin has only been at A&M 1 year. Sherman also left a good team nucleus. Give Sumlin credit for spotting JF and utilizing his talents. Sumlin is also doing a bang up job recruiting.

Agreed both are doing excellent work.

I dont disagree with what you said. I cant speak for others, but I didnt think Shaw would sustain what Harbaugh built. I might have been the only one but I wasnt sold on him in the beginning.

You weren't the only one but Shaw seems to be recruiting as well as Harbaugh, and with continued success this might not change. He's definitely following a blueprint foreign to the PAC..stout D, solid running game and leans on great TE's to get them by. I don't think they're going anywhere for a while.
