09:35 AM ET 06.30 | Matt Harvey's brilliance (7-1, 2.00) won't necessarily keep him from being this season's Stephen Strasburg. On Saturday, Terry Collins speculated on the chances of a Harvey shutdown before the end of 2013. "We are not, we are not going to hinder this kid's health by killing him now," the Mets' manager said. "When the future is so bright and with (Zack) Wheeler coming, with Rafael (Montero) coming, all of these young prospect pitchers coming, we're not going to jeopardize what's down the road for right now. I'm not going to do it. So we're going to monitor his workload, and hopefully he gets through the month of September." While sitting Harvey would be a joint decision by Collins, GM Sandy Alderson and others, the manager says he also understands the benefits of a full season for the righty.

Nolan Ryan and Tom Seaver are probably rolling their eyes

At least they won't be blowing a chance at winning the World Series. <flips quarter to Nats>

Zachary Wheeler is currently being pounded by The Nats, just about ready to be Wheeled off the field, Nats 4 Mets 0, bottom of the Second!

The league offices will be interested. Beginning August 30 they play the Nats 7 times, the Reds 3 times and the Giants 3 times. Hmmm? The playoffs just might run through them and their decision with this guy.

That's alright..... Harvey had one of those last year ....Seaver even had a one inning start in 1967...even Bob Gibson a stinker or two in 1959......Wheeler will be fine

No sense over working Harvey or Wheeler limit their innings this year. The Mets appear to have pretty well clinched 4th place.
