07:07 AM ET 07.01 | While Aaron Hernandez has been in the midst of a murder investigation, former teammates have been reluctant to publicly stand by him -- until now. [Deion Branch] didn't have anything negative to say about Hernandez. "That's my guy, man," Branch said of Hernandez. "That's my guy. It really shocked me. He was a great kid. Overall, I hope the best that he isn't involved with it and I hope he gets his name cleared, but most importantly I send my prayers and condolences out to the Lloyd family." ... "Most of all what we as Americans need to understand is that is somebody's child that was a victim. That's somebody's dad, and my prayers and thoughts go out to his family and hope that they bring whoever did this to their child to justice, regardless of who it is."

I think this is how anyone would feel if they had a close friend arrested and accused of something like this - unless we saw signs of that behavior.

Sorry, Deion, but the evidence against "your guy" sounds pretty strong. He did it.

Smart. Very wise move. May have to move the trial to Miami, of Philly or Detroit to find a jury of his Peers.

Or the Department of Corrections.

Have never been a Pats fan, but kudos to Deion for making sure everyone remembers this really is about the devastating effect that killing a man will have on his family and not concentrating on the media circus that simply wants to scrutinize a celebrity squirming while under the microscope.

Sorry Deion "your guy" has serious mental problems and conflict resolving issues.

Looks like Branch is also a gang banger.

Zing!

To paraphrase Mushmooth: "He's my murderer ... he's my teammate ..."

"That's my guy, man," Branch said of Hernandez. "That's my guy. It really shocked me. He was a great kid."

Wes Welker said that on Hernandez's 4th day in the building he threatened to "Effff him up" for not helping him figure out the video equipment.

Great kid.

This "story" is appearing all over today, and there's nothing there. Branch says it doesn't seem possible, as in "I can't reconcile the Hernandez I know and the one on the front page, but if he's guilty he has to pay". Not a direct quote, but a distillation.

Yeah, stand-up guy. He apparently left a trail of evidence a blind mand could have followed. For his family's sake I hope he saved some of his money. But I wouldn't bet on it.

^^^ mand = man ^^^

July 1, 2013  02:42 PM ET

More like "that's my getaway driver!".

Hey Deion, just be glad it wasn't you laying in that gravel pit.
