07:21 AM ET 07.01 | Patriots fan John Lamothe, who also lives in Florida, was crushed at first to learn that that Aaron Hernandez was under investigation for a murder. [Lamothe] especially liked Hernandez because they had gone to the same school, the University of Florida. But when the sordid details about the case piled on by the day, Lamothe looked at the Number 81 Aaron Hernandez Patriots jersey in his house and knew he wanted it gone. "I thought about giving it to Goodwill," he said, "but I didn't think anybody would want it." So instead, he put it on eBay, the online auction site. "I thought I might get $15 for it," he said. On Sunday, it sold for $289. ... Lamothe said the person who bought his jersey told him just two things: He had overpaid, and he did not want his wife to know what he had done.

Yup, sick people out there collecting things from killers all the time. Love the guy tying to justify it - that no one would want it at goodwill, so list it on a sale site.

"...and he did not want his wife to know what he had done."

WORD.

The guy overpaid for it when he bought it new.

It has been this way forever. Vlad The Impaler's mustache comb sold for three bushels of wheat back in the day.

His wife probably has no idea who Aaron Hernandez is.

Mine doesn't.

Correction - he is not being investigated for A murder. 3 is more accurate, at least for now.

I suspect his wife does not want him to know some of the things she has done..

I wouldn't call that big bucks exactly, but it shouldn't have sold at all. Human behavior is a strange thing. Would not be surprised if Hernandez gets a handful of marriage proposals during his first year in prison.

He is wasting his time. Wives are hot wired to pay pal accounts. It is a built in app they possess. The minute that money comes in she will be on QVC to order the new line of Bare Essentials and one of those Dooney and Bourke handbags. All he will ever see of it is the transaction.

The mother of his child might have the inside track on that. It's even been talked about here as a defense strategy, so she can't be called to testify about what she saw that night.

Now here's a question for you: Massachusetts is one of "those" states, so one of his fellow inmates might pop question. If that happened, would they let them be cellmates?

July 1, 2013  08:38 AM ET

Who knew they would bring so much money so soon? Especially given that he has yet to be convicted (in a court of a law, already on his way to prison in the press) Meanwhile, Pats are offering free swap of Hernandez jersey for any other jersey. That organization really knows how to make a profit.

Not mine. I'm a PC guy, and I got her a Mac so I could tell her I didn't know how to do things on her computer.

I mean, how many times do you need to show someone how to attach a picture to an e-mail? Like, starting from scratch every time?

My Mom had a set of earrings. One said IN, and the other said OUT. For Mom, it was a joke, but for SWMBO, it's reality.

I envy you. Good job.

After she sees that $289 it won't matter! LOL!!

Wonder just how many replica jerseys, complete with water tattoos will be sold for halloween. Asian factories are making them now I suspect, and some kids will wear one to school and argue with the principal over his right to wear it because other kids wear football jerseys too.

Laughing because I have a bobble head of me. Honest. Looks better than I do. A team I coached a few years ago had it made for me . They were witty..

Outta here, much to do today. Enjoy

I used to tell people I'd forgotten how Windows works so they would stop asking me to fix their PC's. It's been going on so long now that it's true. Thanks to Linux my GF can't even boot any of my machines let alone check my browser history.
