07:23 AM ET 07.01 | From Milwaukee to the Big Apple? As the free-agent negotiating period opened Monday morning, the Knicks expressed an interest in pursuing a deal with Bucks shooting guard Monta Ellis, league sources told CBSSports.com. A union of Ellis and the Knicks is viewed as a long shot, as the Knicks only have the $3.2 million taxpayer mid-level exception available. Ellis just opted out of a deal that would have paid him $11 million next season in Milwaukee. But Ellis, 27, and his Washington, D.C.-based agent, Jeff Fried, are known to be willing to compromise in order to sign with a contending team. And the Knicks, who face the free-agent loss of sixth man of the year J.R. Smith, would provide ample opportunity for Ellis to showcase his scoring prowess deep into the playoffs.

I know right? After making it past Round 1 for the 1st time in FOREVER, they can all of a sudden go DEEP in the playoffs. Can you imagine Ellis, Melo, and Smith on the same team? No jump shots for anyone else on the team.

Ellis could just be a smaller version of JR Smith...

Its a frackin article.....
No one thinks he will come for peanuts.

Why start?

Because the Cavs have won more playoff games in the past 10 years than the Knicks have. At least that was his way of validating the Cavs greatness. Seriously? Playoff games?

SMH... Sad isn't it?

This makes no sense.

July 1, 2013  03:34 PM ET

Why? Are the Bucks taking Amare off the KNICKS hands? Otherwise this a non-starter.

July 1, 2013  07:18 PM ET

Anthony and Ellis will be a disaster.

July 1, 2013  08:24 PM ET

The Knicks are the likely to be battling for the fifth playoff seed - with or without Ellis. Should Melo get hurt they are a lottery team.

Knicks can't advance beyond the first round.

The good news is Ellis is perfect for the knicks, never saw a shot he didn't like(just like Melo) and plays zero defense,(just like Melo)...
Now for the bad news, in reality you cannot sign this guy!
Cap hell is a mother...

spurs, bulls and nuggets are all interested in Ellis.
Teams that could afford him....(Chi Town as long as they amnesty that Bozo)

Bulls don't need Ellis with his low efficiency scoring and complete lack of defense (LOL) ......

And if they amnesty Boozer NOW, who's his replacement? And please don't say Gibson. I like him, but he ain't ready for primetime.....and unfortunately, never will be.
