Ripple effect of Posey's nagging injury

07:29 AM ET 07.01 | Buster Posey has played a few games in a row at first base, as San Francisco tries to keep his bat in the lineup while "general tightness" keeps him from behind the plate. [Bruce Bochy] said the condition is not serious and not related to the ankle surgery that Posey had in 2011. But it's enough of a hinderance that Posey was moved to first base again, pushing Brandon Belt to the bench. ... Belt is one of the few Giants hitters who isn't slumping, but Posey is even hotter. The reigning MVP has 10 hits in his last 18 at-bats. Bochy said the organization decided this spring that Belt would not see any time in left field, but that could change if Posey needs more time at first base. Belt started four games in left field last season.

Further proof that Molina is an extremely valuable iron man.

Maybe the Giants should think about moving Posey to third base like the Reds did with Johnny Bench back in the days.

No A-Rod thread today?

At least he's not had it as bad as Ray Fosse had it after Pete Rose ran him over at the plate in the All Star game. Fosse was out of baseball way too soon IMHO.

The giants should keep both players at or in the lineup,, after all the team needs R,B.I run production :-) :-) :-)

Makes you wonder if Rose had money on the NL.

that was the way rose played . played to win. Rose didn't run into Fosse with intent to hurt him. He was simply trying to score the run.

The giants should acquire a decent starting catcher. Trade Belt if you have to. Keep Posey at first base. It will greatly extend his career. A lot of people don't remember but Craig Biggio early in his career was a catcher. He was not that big and Houston was afraid that he would not take to many collisions well. they moved him to 2nd base and the rest is history.

I see St. L. has occasionally been playing Molina at 1st base, giving Tony Cruz an occasional (rare) start.
