All along, Schneider thought Canucks might move him

07:38 AM ET 07.01 | Yes, Cory Schneider had been told for a year he would be The Man between the pipes in Vancouver, but he's a sharp young man and he had a nagging suspicion. [Schneider] never stopped thinking he could be the one traded. It seems Schneider and his agent Mike Liut were not sure the Canucks were going to be able to pull off the Roberto Luongo trade. Oh how right they were. This despite the fact the team kept telling Schneider he was going to be the goalie of the future. "That was the belief up until yesterday," Schneider said. ... "But in the back of my and my agent's minds, we sort of knew what the situation was and what it may end up coming to, in terms of backsliding assets and what was best for the team."

Interesting trade I thought.
Comment of the day from my 17 year olde son yesterday. When he heard the Devils drafted LOTF jr, he asked if it was the original mother's child, or the sister

Great move for both teams. Good thing VAN hired a coach who is the best at building personal relationships with his players, cuz Lou is gonna need some comforting words.....

Guess I don't have to worry about life after Marty.

No you don't but Gillis should worry about life after losing a job.

Ol' Lou should be arrested for larceny! He pulled off a heist of major proportions and .... what did Vancouver get? A prospect! And ... of course .... they're stuck with Lou for another 17 years!

We'll see about that, there's a reason this guy has been backing up the **** in Vancouver and the Devils and their fans are in line to find out why.

Oh yeah, he was backing up Luongo. Did you watch hockey this year? Do you follow anyone else besides for Boston? HAHAHAHAHA on that statement. Backing up Lu and we will find out why. HAHAHAHHAHAHA

Wonder if Boston fans said that about Rask when he was backing up Thomas.

Unfortuantely will be gone. i know he was on the last year of a deal and his family is close by. So I am sure Lou will call the Isles or Flyers to see if they want him (he does do the right thing by his players, see Brodeur drafting his son), but if they don't want him. Probably get the amnesty buy out.

Did you see Gillis sweating all through the draft? He was drenched ... as he should be. Word is he passed up on far better offers for Schneider than what he managed to get from the Devils. Gillis should've been gone long before AV lost his job.

The best part in this whole fiasco is that Roberta will live to enjoy the pleasures of Three Fingers treatments for years to come and watching Gillis sweating until Lulongo's contract runs out.

QUOTE(#10):

The fact he even got to make this deal goes to show the real problem in Vancouver is at the ownership level.

Abso-freakin'-lutely. I'm still convinced Booby's contract has Aquilini stench all over it but it doesn't absolve Gillis.

AV paid for Gillis' mistakes.

I can hear Hank giggling at the other end of the Island.

This has to be about ownership not wanting to cut the check for Luongo right. I mean there is no other explanation.

Gillis is a terrible GM.

They repoirted a seismic event of the coast of Vancouver. It turned out to be nothing. It was just Hank laughing.
