Despite rumors, Chicago Bulls expected to stay quiet

11:57 AM ET 07.01 | The NBA free agency period kicked off early Monday morning which means rumors are as thick as mud and the truth is a microscopic diamond within it. Look no further than the Chicago Bulls for an example of a team rumored to be interested in certain players. Monta Ellis is perhaps the most hilarious rumor as the Bulls don't have nearly enough room to sign him nor would they want to. Jerry Reinsdorf runs a tight financial ship in Chicago and there would be far too much effort needed to fit Ellis under the cap. Chicago has a Mini Mid-Level Exception (MMLE) that they can use but if they offer that to Ellis he'll probably die of laughter. So while there are rumors circling Chicago, someone had better tell Gar Forman and company because they'll likely be dragging their feet again while they sell "basketball decisions" and hope for the future.

Bulls will almost certainly hold pat with a starting five of Rose, Butler, Deng, Boozer and Noah.

Heinrich, Teague, Mohamad and Gibson will be back and it looks like they'll sign Dunlevey.

Tony Snell will probably make the team.

Hamilton will be waived and Robinson, Bellinelli and Radmanovic will be gone.

They'll sign a couple more cheap free agents to fill out the roster. I'd like to see them pick up T-Mac but doubt he'll sign for the veterans' minimum......

We'll see..............

Bulls are going to remain competitive once they get their players healthy.

Rose won't be "mentally ready" to play till mid-season.
Dunleavy is inconsistent. Nate was their best bench player offensively. Hinrich is always hurt and is pretty much done.

Rose will be ready wish they could keep Nate but he wants a multi-yr contract with some money which the bulls can't do, signing Dunleavy gives them an outside threat that can handle the ball and plays smart, all jump shooters in the NBA is inconsistent, u don't win a championship with jump shooters, ask Spurs, he will provide the space needed for rose to do his thing and with the drafts picks bulls doing fine, Hinrich should be fine since he wont have to log in so many minutes but like someone said they have to stay healthy

That's what I expect. I really like the MDJ signing and feel the Bulls have a roster that can compete. If Jimmy Butler can continue to improve Chicago has a great shot. Once again the bench should be very strong. The defense is one of the best in basketball and Chicago is probably the best rebounding team in the NBA.

However Miami is going to very good and Indiana will also be good. So Chicago has some hurdles in the East.

Don't agree and neither do the numbers. MDJ is very consistent. Kirk Hinrich is far from done, he was very effective last season and with Ros?? back Kirk will return to the bench which will be one the best this season again.

The plan was for Rose to sit out the season, and just because people wanted to see him play this season doesn't change anything. rose will be back and will probably go right back to dominating.

Agreed, the key is staying healthy but I like the bulls chances. The Spurs should have won game 6. That combined with the Indiana series has shown Miami can be beat.

Plus there are only three really good teams in the east Miami, Chicago and Indiana. Chicago has a very good chance and has the defense and rebounding. Now they added shooting.

Finally, I like Nate but I ask liked CJ and Kyle the year before. Tibs will get the most out of them. Remember no one wanted Nate or Marco last year. Just like no one wanted Ronnie Brewer, CJ Watson or Asik before they played for the Bulls.

That line has become tired. I hope it's a case of weak sarcasm.....because otherwise, it's a case of you talking out of your rear end.
