L.A. native Utley on Dodgers' radar

07:10 AM ET 07.02 | Veteran Chase Utley has spent his entire career on the East Coast in Philadelphia, but a return to the Left Coast could be coming. Word going around the game is that the Dodgers could have interest in [Utley], the longtime Phillies star who in his younger days starred at UCLA and before that at Long Beach (Calif.) Polytechnic High. It isn't known if the Dodgers have gone so far as to contact the Phillies regarding Utley, and if they do, Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro doesn't seem anxious to trade Utley despite the fact Utley's contract expires after the year. Amaro told Danny Knobler earlier this week, "I view Chase Utley as a Phillie for life." ... There could be room on the infield for Utley, who would fit the Dodger preference for big and established names.

Utley makes sense for LA. The Dodgers just love stashing away players on the DL.

Pittsburgh playing good baseball - of course - the central has had it's way with MIL. StL and PIT have 14 game left with each other after the AllStar game.

It would actually be kind of refreshing if we should happen to end up with Pirates vs. Orioles in the World Series this year....

Pettitte breaks Whitey Fords K record. Whitey was in the league with the NYY for 16 years, Pettitte with the NYY - 15 - quite an accomplishment.

I don't think he's done anything out of the ordinary, just play baseball - have you heard of any non-baseball activities like shoveling snow (Pavano) or sneezing (Sosa) that has caused him to miss games? It's a shame seeing such a competitor decline not due to lack of talent but rather a body that can't handle the workload.............

Come on - was making a pun to the "on his back". But while healthy he is a very good ball player - his performance is diminished because of his fragility.....

But I do agree - it's too bad the body can't take the pounding.
