Fireworks ahead for Big Ben, Haley

06:57 AM ET 07.02 | In advance of the July 4 holiday, which NFL city is most likely to host a fireworks display, of sorts, in 2013? 1) Ben Roethlisberger and Todd Haley. [Roethlisberger] has a knack for winning, plain and simple. But part of that comes from his ability to ad-lib; Roethlisberger routinely goes away from a scripted play. ... Here's what scares me this year: Pittsburgh isn't that good. The offensive line is suspect, as is the receiver position. The running backs don't scare anyone. The defense is old and in a transitional phase. Roethlisberger is everything to Pittsburgh, and I can see him trying to do too much. Haley is a hothead. So is Ben. Television cameras will be trained on these two at all times. The only question here is when -- not if -- we'll get fireworks.

I hope he's right. I can't wait!

Gentlemen start your Engines!!! OOP's wrong sport!

Haley better keep his cheeks to the wall, allegedly.

This could have been written a year ago.

Those who underestimate the Steelers do so at their own peril.

It actually was... The two were never a deemed a good fit.

You got it.

[Roethlisberger] has a knack for winning, plain and simple.

From the games I have seen it is more the defense that has a knack of winning. Ben has a knack for beating rape charges.

Haley better hope it works out. If not, rest assured Roethlisberger will be there long after Haley is gone. Play callers are a lot easier to come by than play makers.

What has Haley done??.... Exactly

Didn't he discover a comet?

No, no, it was "Rock Around the Clock!"

Yup... they do have a way about them.

"Haley is a hothead" is a hell of a distillation of what is certainly a terrible character flaw.

Ha!

Damn Hot Chicks... I mean Clicks..

If they get into a physical fight, my money is on Big Ben.

It is very clear that whomever wrote this doesn't watch the Steelers or know very much about pro football. Ben was on his way to the MVP last year before he got hurt and that "old" defense was the best in the league. Again.

^^^^ Ben, obviously, not Bed.

Lines in good shape, Adams should be fine. Receivers are in good shape, Miller should be fine. The running game was good for about a third of their yards last season, Dwyer should be fine. The defense has been "old and transitional"-ing their way to #1 for years now. They should be fine.

There were already reports coming out of the OTAs saying that Roethlisberger (and other players) were having a lot of input on Haley's playbook this season. We have a pretty challenging schedule this season (on paper) but it's the same for the dirty birds and the Bugles, too.

I think 11-5 or even 10-6 is good enough to win the division again, and that should be in our reach.
