07:07 AM ET 07.03 | Former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett wound up being drafted by the Broncos in 2005, but he was released before ever playing a down in the NFL. Now, Clarett is working hard to restore his reputation and to again utilize his athletic talents. He's playing for Tiger Rugby, the rugby development program for the selection of players to the team that will represent the United States in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. ... Clarett scored the winning touchdown on a 5-yard run in the second overtime of Ohio State's 31-24 national championship game win over Miami (Fla.) in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 3, 2003. Clarett would never again play for the Buckeyes, though, as he became embroiled in legal problems.

If rugby doesn't work out he'll move on to handball. If handball doesn't workout, then it's cricket.

Seriously....

Nobody cares, Bro.

Just when you thought you would never hear the name again.... Maybe Fan Nation should have made an honorary Rugy section just for today.

Then again, if you're playing Rugby in the U.S. and you make headlines of any sort, you must be doing something right.

This was the final straw for Shanahan. Still embarrassed we took him.

July 3, 2013  09:08 AM ET

I still think he's a punk.

Tiger Rugby??? WOW!

That's what Eldrick use to play with hostesses.

Something tells me rugby doesn't pay as well as the NFL. Then again he'll never have to meet Choirboy so I'd say he came out a winner.

What a waste! I know he was slow, but he was one of the best true freshman running backs of all-time, right up there with Herschel. He pretty much won that National Championship Game by himself against one of the best college football teams of all-time, remember that forced fumble? I think he could have at least been a decent pro running back if things went A LOT different.

Clarett tweeted this last month when Gordon Gee retired. "@JimTressel5 for OSU President??" Maybe it's part of an Offender Outreach thing. Ex-convicts helping at-risk ex-coaches.

Maybe T.O. can help get Clarett a spot on the Pro Bowlers Tour if this doesn't work out.

The only way he could "restore his reputation" would be by committing suicide.

July 3, 2013  06:54 PM ET

Ya I hear that pays a lot? NOT!

Bowling is not far behind.
