07:07 AM ET 07.03 | Reportedly already on the hook for nearly $50 million in payments to players no longer on the roster, Oakland will fork over some good money to JaMarcus Russell, too. The Raiders are paying [Russell] close to $3 million in a settlement over his disputed rookie contract, league sources said. Russell was the team's No. 1 overall draft pick in 2007, signing a 6-year, $68 million contract, and was waived in May 2010 after three unproductive seasons and weight issues. He had been paid $36.4 million and was still owed $3 million at the time of his release. The Raiders filed a grievance against Russell, seeking repayment of $9.55 million in salary advances, and Russell filed a grievance of his own, saying he was owed an additional $9 million.

He was owed $9 million, but they settled on $3 million. They just deducted the $6 million in food that he ate.

Maybe this explains why we haven't heard anything else about his "comeback".

With money in his pocket and new buffet choices at Golden Corral, I fear we may have seen the last of JaWalrus, Mel.

Yeah, he blew through $38mil in just a couple of years. That extra $3mil won't last him long.

No coke. No justice in this world, either. But plenty of purple drank.

I think JaBeefalo went through the $36 million in about a year. It shouldn't be long before he is back on food stamps.

He is the least of their cap problems. McKenzie gutted the roster of deadbeats to take the hit this year and open up 2014 with a wide open slate.

Are you ready: The Raiders have almost $50 million in DEAD CAP SPACE money this year.

Richard Seymour $13,714,000
Carson Palmer $9,340,000
Rolando McClain $7,260,000
Tommy Kelly $6,324,270
Darrius Heyward Bey $5,260,000
Michael Huff $3,288,750
Aaron Curry $1,508,000
Kevin Boss $1,500,000
Dave Tollefson $625,000
DeMarcus Van **** $295,688
Joe Barksdale $269,900
Chimdi Chekwa $222,600
Nathan Supar $37,764
Kyle Padron $4,000

TOTAL $49,649,972

These numbers can sometimes be fluid, but give the GM credit. He is taking the hit now and starting next year they will be in a great position cap and all.
