A-Rod fails to impress in Charleston

07:16 AM ET 07.03 | So much for the hype of Alex Rodriguez's return. [Rodriguez] began his road back to the Bronx on Tuesday night that same way he ended the 2012 season. There was personal failure and unmet expectations. The Yankees third baseman played three innings for the Class-A Charleston RiverDogs against the Rome Braves, went 0-for-2 at the plate, and both balls that were hit his way ended up being base hits. A-Rod, who has missed the entire season after left hip surgery in January, has 19 days left on the clock to return to the Yankees' roster -- something he said he is "very confident" about. He might better inspire Bomber fans with more favorable results than hitting into a 5-4-3 double play and taking a called third strike.

Those two balls that were hit his way were bunt hits.
