01:29 PM ET 07.03 | There have been a variety of NBA trade rumors floating around the Houston Rockets since free agency kicked off, mostly involving a guy by the name of Dwight Howard. However, Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik have popped up as trade candidates as well ??? perhaps as names the Rockets would like to unload. Rockets GM Daryl Morey is having none of that. "[Dwight Howard] wants the best team possible and is interested in how we plan to do that," said Morey, after meeting with the prized free agent. "Omer with Dwight would give us the best [centers] in the league in combination. Jeremy is an attacking guard, great in pick-and-roll, a great fit for Dwight."

Actually Lin is more than a serviceable PG. he averaged close to 12 and 6 last season, which pretty much was his first NBA season as a starter for the entire season. 80% of the NBA teams would accept those numbers from their starting PGs. He's only going to get better with more experience.
The problem with Lin is expectations, and his salary. The Linsanity put him on front pages in NY so people expect him to be Magic Johnson. He would be a GREAT backup PG, expectations have been mis-managed.

Actually, Lin averaged 13.4ppg and 6.1apg last season.

Lin is a good player. To call him great however is a bridge too far.

Asik will be a valuable commodity on the open market to some team out there (you listening Pat)? So far as Jeremy Lin, if he leaves Houston he might as well say he's out of the league. He is way too expendable.
