01:47 PM ET 07.03 | Peter Chiarelli, general manager of the Boston Bruins, is confident that the team and Tuukka Rask will agree to a contract by Friday. Well he'd better hope that a deal can be made by Friday, as it marks the beginning of the free-agent period. If a deal is not made by then, other teams have the option to present Rask an offer sheet, which the Bruins would have to match in order to keep arguably the best goalie of the 2013 season.

It would be funny if he wasn't signed by Friday and Toronto swoops in with an offer...

Or the Hawks

I think the Hawks are good at 'tender, but they've been giving up a lot of supporting cast lately. But a few East teams might be sitting on the edge.

Lock him up and trade Subban for a top-6 forward.

FTA: "...arguably the best goalie..." Amen to that. The "arguably" part.

Crawford ultimately had the best year overall. The Hawks traded Bolland and are letting Stalberg walk because both were disappointments. Bolland was expected to center the second line but was ineffective. Stalberg also didn't pan out like they'd hoped. Not a huge loss. In any case, the Hawks won't be looking to sign any big names, be they in net or elsewhere.

"Rask has had less success to date then Luongo". Looking at stats, this is a fair statement.

Discuss.
