Will St. Louis upgrade at center?

07:27 AM ET 07.04 | The numbers: Jon Jay this season is batting .241 with a .327 slugging percentage. At some point, the Cardinals will have to upgrade in center field. I don't know if the upgrade will come via trade, or through the eventual (but not imminent) promotion of prospect Oscar Taveras. But the Cardinals have to do better than [Jay]. Based on WAR -- wins above replacement -- he's playing below the replacement-level standard. Nothing personal; Jay is a good guy and teammate and all of that. But the personality has nothing to do with performance. This is a pure baseball discussion. ... You could live with a shortage of offense from the CF spot -- if Jay was providing exceptional defense, but he isn't.

No thanks..........

Jacoby Ellsbury may be available, for the right price.

If they decide to resign Beltran for another season Jay could be the odd man out with Oscar Tavers waiting in the wings.

No! We don't want Colby Rasmus back.

Where is a better centerfielder available for trade? Go for it if you can find it. Taveras isn't really a centerfielder.

Wouldn't be the right price for the Cards.
