Uncertainty for St. Louis

07:38 AM ET 07.04 | For St. Louis, these are anxious times. The Blues are expected to go into free agency with their No. 1 defenseman and leading scorer from last season still unsigned. Defenseman Alex Pietrangelo and right winger Chris Stewart are restricted free agents, and thus the Blues could match any outside offer sheets. But nonetheless they will be exposed to the market if they fail to reach an agreement with the club before Friday at 11 a.m. (St. Louis time). Blues general manager Doug Armstrong had a succinct answer when asked Wednesday if he anticipated either Pietrangelo or Stewart to be re-signed before then: "No." Armstrong and Pietrangelo's agent, Don Meehan of Newport Sports Management, have been unable to come to terms on an extension for the defenseman.

Why the hell not. So sick of this stigma against offer sheets.

I agree but the GM Secret Society frowns on it and I doubt it happens.

Good question: Is Pietrangelo worth Letang money/term? And if so, would a team be nuts to offer him an extra $1 mil/season to jump ship?

No mention of a trade for Miss Pinch?

No, he isn't. But ..... some dopey GM will. You can count on that.

It'd be nice, but do you really see any GM crazy enough to do that? Unless the Leafs eat up 80% of his salary, probably not.

At worst he's only around for one more season.

A lot of teams would like a guy who'll drop his gloves....

8.5 is quite expensive. Doesn't mean that nobody's crazy enough though. Would hate to see it happen because it means PK Norris' value will shoot even higher.

They sign Bob then let everyone get away? I don't think that will happen.

Is he that bad. I don't get to see him all the time, and i get he gets a wrap from some fans (Kessell gets one also), but a lot of fans are just sheep that repeat what others say. But is your D better if he leaves?
