07:11 AM ET 07.05 | Golden Tate may in some corners be considered a trade target for a team in need of wide receiver help, but he doesn't sound like a guy who wants to leave Seattle. "I'm going to show up to work, work hard (and) not worry about any contract talk," Tate told "The SiriusXM Blitz" on Thursday. "I'm just going to pray on it and hopefully it works out. Hopefully I'm in Seattle for a long time." ... The Seahawks arguably house the NFL's strongest roster, with enough young talent to hint at long-term success. "I think we have a chance to be really, really special, and special for a long time," Tate said. ... "I think the last few years, teams kind of thought, 'Seattle, we're going to walk all over them,' but not anymore."

Anything less than the NFC championship game is gonna be a HUGE disappointment for this organization this season.

49ers will be a tough nut to crack, but this team certainly has the talent

July 5, 2013  08:07 AM ET

This is a different kind of "special" than what it was a few years ago. They will be fun to watch, but that's stating the obvious.

Once they win, if that ever happens, like every other SB Champ, Everybody wants to get paid and you lose players!

His fathers name was Golden Tate, Jr., a wr in the NFL.
His Grandfather was a Golden Tate. It appears he comes from a long line of Taters.

Yes, and with all the interviews he's doing, he's becoming a real commentater.

July 5, 2013  09:19 AM ET

Odd that the Seahawks have seemingly made no effort to extend his contract. He is cheap enough finishing up a $3.1 million four year deal. His stats say he is starting to get it as a WR. Many say it takes 3 to 4 years to learn that position in the NFL.

Would love for them to get home field throughout the playoffs. See what they can do. That place is just crazeeeee. Bucket list to watch a football and soccer game in that place.

July 5, 2013  09:57 AM ET

SBF - awesome retort.

I agree that if they fall shy of the NFC Champ game they are a failure. However, they've got so much talent that it's going to most likely get squirrelly on them. Maybe the Domer can shore that up with a few extra prayers.

Tate: Seattle can be 'really, really special'

I'd say they already are.

And for the fans. We're Sports Moment Camels here. We're still wringing a little sunshine from memories of the Sonics' 1978-79 championship. That's all there is in the trophy case, other than Greg Haugen's lightweight championship in the 80s, a pair of middleweight champs (Hostak and Steele) in the '30s. and a hockey title in the '20s. And most of us weren't even alive for most of that. We've been running on empty for a long time.

It does seem unfair, doesn't it? By May of every year the Mariners are already out of the race and we stop watching them and go island hopping in the San Juans. Takes the sting out of it.

Don't know if they get by the 49ers this year again, Otis, They haven't gotten any weaker especially with Boldin, one tough WR.

It would anybody but the twisted. How would you like to walk out into the middle of Detroit after a bad year? What do you do, go down and look at some old Stanley cups to feel better? No bloody way!

If the NFL expands to Idaho, he will be the first guy picked in the expansion draft.

Before we start calling them special and giving them a place in the NFC title game or Super Bowl, let' remember that last year was their first winning season in 5 years. And let's wait till their QB has gotten through his second year before we build him up too much.

July 5, 2013  11:27 AM ET

That's why we took the damn field. Now if you want to crown them, then crown their ****! But they are who we thought they were! And we let 'em off the hook!

It's a lot easier when your team is flying under the radar.....they sneak up on nobody this year....the target is on their back.....let's see how they handle it.....
