07:14 AM ET 07.05 | On the one hand, Phil Jackson approved of Boston's hiring of Brad Stevens. One person who did not like the Celtics' decision, however, was Falcons wide receiver and Celtics fan Roddy White, and he took to Twitter -- something he does quite often, and quite hilariously -- to express his displeasure: [@roddywhiteTV:] "I can't believe the C's hired a kid today no chance at succeeding in the NBA ... Doc had a hard time coaching rondo who is my C's best player and you think he listens to brad Stevens good luck ... Please stop telling telling me he took a mid major to back to back finals ok he had a lottery pick on that team and 10 seniors" ... First of all, whose opinion are you going to put more stock in when it comes to assessing a coach's qualifications?

The WORLD knows that Roddy White talks too much.

Brad Stevens is going to do great.

That team is dismantled, this guy is clearly a coach to start the "rebuilding process" of course with 20 teams in the NBA rebuilding that's no easy task.

It might be another 17 year rebuilding plan for Boston.

Not with 9 first round picks over the next 5 yrs.

This is funny though. The Celtics are rebuilding I wouldn't be surprised if Rondo is dealt next. Good player but cancerous behavior in the locker room. They clearly are not playing to go far in the post season. This is at least a 3-4 year process.

Stick to football and trying not to blow a chance to the Super Bowl. I'm sure there were a lot of Falcons that said "Mike Smith? Who is Mike Smith?

July 5, 2013  09:45 AM ET

I'm sure Danny Ainge cares about as much as I do about what Roddy White says about this.......which is not at all.

How the Mighty Celtics have fallen as well as the Fakers once Howard makes it official and bolts!

I don't think Rondo will take the rebuilding process well.

All the damn problems with the Celtics seem to all go back to Rondo in some way, shape, or form. I hope somebody knocks that POS into la-la land.

July 5, 2013  10:32 AM ET

Lets ask Paula Dean what she thinks of this idiot Roddy Whites opinion.

July 5, 2013  10:44 AM ET

So Roddy confirms that Rondo is the problem.

July 5, 2013  11:57 AM ET

Perhaps if Roddy White focused as much on football as he does tweeting and shooting his mouth off, then maybe his Falcons might actually get to the Super Bowl.

July 5, 2013  12:39 PM ET

ok roddy white, i guess these 3 coaches were bad to, red auerbach, bill russell, and tommy heinsin, all 3 were younger then brad stevens when hired and what do all 3 have in common, all 3 won titles as celtics coach

July 5, 2013  01:23 PM ET

At least he makes Championship appearances Roddy. You seem to fail in every aspect of that.

July 5, 2013  01:26 PM ET

At least he makes Championship appearances Roddy. Something you have continuously failed at. EARLY NFL PREDICTION: FALCONS HAVE BEST NFL RECORD BUT FAIL TO DO ANYTHING IN THE PLAYOFFS ONCE AGAIN!

July 5, 2013  01:31 PM ET

For what it's worth, it's been reported that Rondo is completely open-minded about the hire. According to the source (if want to believe this or not), Rondo understands that there's a lot at stake for both himself and Brad Stevens, so "Why not do it together."

So much for the thought that Rondo would not be on board with this. While I'm disinclined to give much credence to "unnamed sources", this does fall in line with comments I've made about how Rondo would take this. I think he's welcoming the challenge primarily because people are saying it won't work. Rondo is a smart guy and few would argue that he's one of the smartest guys in the room "most of the time". Methinks that working with a smart, young, "prodigy" who many think is in over his head is likely a situation that he can relate to. He had the benefit of great players helping, him, so why not return the favor and have a chance at cementing his own legacy in the face of the naysayers? Sounds like an irresistible challenge to me.
