07:19 AM ET 07.05 | Soon, The Decision, DH Edition, will come. The teams in the Dwight Howard sweepstakes spent Independence Day in fairly agonizing fashion, left with no alternative but to wait and hope that a decision from the NBA's most coveted free agent indeed comes Friday. It was a particularly uncomfortable holiday for the Los Angeles Lakers, sources told ESPN.com, as fears mount within the organization that Howard's current employers could have fallen to as low as fourth in his pecking order. ... [There] were indications late Thursday that Lakers officials, already bracing for the worst, had begun to rethink their long-held position of ruling out sign-and-trade options in the event Howard decides to bolt to one of L.A.'s rivals.

Don't know which EGO is bigger. Him or Kanye.

On one hand I'm enjoying seeing the Lakers grovel. But I'm sick and tired of Howard trying to be centre of attention. Whoever signs him be weary because you might only have him for a couple of years.

I have been a rockets fan since I moved to Houston in 1980. I would love an early X-Mas gift and would love to see Howard turn down the Rockets. This guy is a cancer in the locker room,is hurt half of the time, has limited offensive game and is just not worth the hassle.Give me 12 players who play with heart and i will watch that team.Howard is way overrated.

QUOTE(#3):

It would probably be the best thing for the Lakers to not re-sign Howard. They should consider going the Celtic route and try to rebuild as fast as they can. Their unwillingness to even consider a sign and trade just makes them seem like the child that was left disappointed on Christmas.

Lakers may agree to sign & trade later once Howard announces he is headed to another team.

That should be the move. It seems GS has the upper hand. Getting players like Harrison and Klay would be a wise decision.

Howard's gonna go where the pressure is the least. The Lakers with Kobe there are all about business and not fun and games. Dwight is a fun and games kinda guy, so LA isn't where he'll stay.

Agree....if a s&t has to be made....Grab the most talent possible

Yep, plus they are young with a lot of upside. Both had a solid season this last. Michael Thompson, Klay's dad will be stoked. He is a former Laker champion.

They can't do S&T until Howard makes a decision.

I heard the Lakers already took down DH's banner from Staples Center.

I still think Houston is the best fit in terms of winning right away. Plus the GM has shown the ability to land talent in lopsided trades and outright outbidding players current teams.
