07:31 AM ET 07.05 | Among a list that includes the likes of Jarome Iginla, Nathan Horton, Ron Hainsey and Andrew Ference, to whom would you make the first call? [You] have oodles of dollars to spend on Friday starting at noon, and in the immediate days following. Here's who you should be driving to the bank as soon as possible. 1. David Clarkson RW ... We'd imagine that if it had been the requirement of every impending NHL free agent to visit interested teams in person during the past 48 hours, Clarkson would have criss-crossed the continent several times. Clarkson blossomed under former junior coach Peter DeBoer the past two seasons with the New Jersey Devils, scoring 45 goals. Age is on his side -- he's 29 -- and he's going to cash in with a long-term contract.

Fascinating that there has been basically no talk about Iginila yet. How the mighty have fallen.

Todays word is "overpayment". Can you say "overpayment"?

I can see him becoming a Maple Leaf.

Maybe Jagr will get a long-term contract from the B's. Maybe 11 years at $7 million per? He'd only be 51 when it's over. Then he could go to Arizona for the last 4 years of the arena lease.

I noticed that too. I liked Iggy, thought he was a nice guy, but his best hockey is behind him. If he is considered one of the top free agents, then the free agent pool is mighty shallow this year.
