Grabovski on Carlyle: '[Expletive] idiot'

07:34 AM ET 07.05 | It didn't take long after his five-year tenure in Toronto came to an end before Mikhail Grabovski had some harsh words for his former club and head coach Randy Carlyle. "I'm [expletive] happy right now," he told TSN.ca. ... [Grabovski] held nothing back in his feelings toward Carlyle after ties with the organization were effectively cut. "I play in the [expletive] Russian KHL, I make lots of [expletive] points and what's going to happen? He make me [expletive] play on the fourth line and he put me in the playoffs on the fourth line and third line again," Grabovski spewed. "Yeah, I don't score goals. I need to work more about that. I know that. But if you feel support from your coach [you'll find success]. I don't feel any support from this [expletive] idiot."

I have mixed feelings about this buyout. I like Grabo, think he is a good teammate. But his production wasnt where it needed to be for the $$ he was collecting. Is that all Carlyle's fault? No, but some of it is.

I will reserve judgement on Nonis until the dust settles at training camp and see where he is at. With the Leafs currently 29th in committed payroll, it is very silly to pass judgement at this point.

This should bode well for his next contract. KHL here we come.

Agree. Makes sense.

Maybe not all Carlyes fault but you don't plow fields with a thoroughbred. Handy Randy completely misused Grabo's skill set.

Bottom line, is Grabo a Top 6 forward? He was being paid like one. We will find out next year. I wish him well.

And who paid him that GBD? He didn't come with that fat bloated contract like Miss Pinch.

A few of Burke's final moves were the hiring of Randy and the Grabo extension. I'm sure he's brooding in some subterreanean hell hole revelling in the fact that his last two big sweaty middle fingers to Leaf fans managed to rip each other apart.

I'm well aware but thank you for putting it so eloquently. :-)

I will be de- wait for it - lighted. Delighted if Dion is traded before the season starts.

Grabovski on Carlyle: '[Expletive] idiot'

After watching Carlyle blow the series against Boston .... I have to agree with Grabo.

Outside of Randy's misplaced trust in his Captain in the final minutes, I could not disagree more. Randy outcoached Julien, esp in Game 2. I cannot say the same for Torts or Disco Dan.

All I know is some team is going to get a guy who plays with heart, whether he's producing or not (and for his deal he wasn't, but once again I don't necessarily disagree with his comments on Randy) and I sincerely hope that team doesn't play in the Leafs' division.

I'm not a fan of Grabo, but I agree that he definitely has alot of heart and he WANTS to be in the league. Seems pretty ridiculous to buy a guy out after only a year into a contract...and while the 5.5 million dollar tag IS high, I still think that his market value is probably around 4 million, so it's not like they are ridiculously overpaying.

Whatever, I guess that at the end of the day, Carlysle must REALLY hate the guy.

Grabo must be taking English lessons from Bruce Boudreau.

Very close to the upset of the season he, Carlyle, was. And Grab only had 2 assists in those seven games where every move counted. Another sulky Russian.

He didn't blow the series, the better team came back and took the series, just like the Hawks did with the Wings. Almost identical series.

He's got a point here, he put up some points with Datsyuk in the KHL.

July 5, 2013  11:37 AM ET

Jagr put up points in the KHL & CZE as well, not exactly an indicator of how they will produce in the NHL.

He lacked production cause Carlyle put him on a checking line with McClement and Komarov. He did well defensively too. But Carlyle used him in a terrible fashion, only ever putting him out for defensive zone draws, and never offensive zone.

Grabo is a good number two centre, and an offensive centre. He is also one of the hardest working players in the league.

Should have bought out Liles, who sits in the press-box making only $1.5 million less.

And how do you know he is a good teammate? Ever been in the dressing room with them?

I fear this move will make the Leafs resign Bozak, and also push Bolland into a bigger role than the 3rd line centre...both terrible decisions.
