09:05 AM ET 07.06 | A former hitting coach for Manny Ramirez expressed skepticism about his comeback attempt. "I don't know," Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "You never know what Manny you???re going to get. He may show up ready to roll." Mattingly served as the Dodgers' hitting coach when Ramirez was with the club in 2008-10. Ramirez hit .322 with 17 homers and 53 RBIs in 53 games after joining the Dodgers during the 2008 season. Ramirez' production decreased in each of the next two seasons. Ramirez is scheduled to debut at designated hitter with Triple-A Round Rock at 7:05 p.m. Sunday against visiting Omaha of the Kansas City organization. Ramirez also clarified a point from his introductory news conference. He will not donate his salary -- $2,692.31 per day if he reaches the majors -- to charity. Ramirez misunderstood the question.

I am sure he also just misunderstood what they were injecting in to him. " Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood."

Too bad Josh is not still with the Rangers. The two of them could have formed a Bible Study Group. Ain't that special?

Don't see Manny as a Major Player anymore, more like a major headache!!!

July 6, 2013  11:22 AM ET

I'm disgusted that any major league team would give him a chance even in minor league ball. Then again this is the same league that suspended Steve Howe 7 times for cocaine.

Here comes 10 more stories each day about "Manny being Manny". Was SO HOPING we were done hearing that stupid expression.

Same feeling here. Rangers just lost any high ground they thought they had.

Hopefully he gets a few MLB games in and makes it onto the AL All Star team.

Wow. Great non-sequitur. Manny and Josh studying the Bible? What? I think Manny is into himself, not Jesus.

July 7, 2013  04:16 AM ET

I agree. No one should get suspended, for using cocaine.

July 7, 2013  09:09 AM ET

Why did they sign Manny to a minor league contract if they didn't think he could be brought up to dodgers? Why would they spend $$$ on toxic waste?

July 7, 2013  09:25 AM ET

The Dodgers have had enough problems just to get back to a significant position in standing where they could be in contention for division title. The Dodgers don't need a manny ramierez on the field deciding if he wants to go all out with his play or games where he says I'm tired ,I 'm not running to line drives or hustling to cut off line drives in gaps or down the line. The Dodgers don't need that headache. Release him. Maybe he will go back to Tiawan or Japan or where ever. Maybe he would retire? But my guess the guy is probably broke. That is why he is still hanging around hoping to get on a ML roster to make a few more bucks to blow.

Texas signed Manny - not the Dodgers.

41 years old and last played in MLB 2011. Maybe they will let him use a metal bat.
