07:19 AM ET 07.07 | Dolphins No. 2 quarterback Matt Moore conceded during a quiet moment recently: "Some might think it's shocking I didn't leave for a starting job. A lot of people find that confusing. But I didn't feel good with the situations" where he could have competed to start. Plus, "I have a nice home here, friends, a great organization. I believe I'm a key component here."

The only one shocked he didn't try for a starting job is his agent.

Beats starting for JAX...

Sounds like a guy with a good head on his shoulders. Opportunities that are better are sure to come. Just keep sharpening the blade.

Nothing wrong with big bucks for holding a clipboard!

Undrafted Quarterbacks, with modest numbers when they did play, that are still in the League seven years later did not get that far by being stupid.

You can last a long time in that league as a back up as long as you shut up.

He's a 60% passer with almost as many int's as TD's. Those are backup numbers. Maybe good enough until a decent third round pick comes along in the next couple years and Miami tries for the upgrade. I'd be paying down that mortgage pretty quick in his position.

A classic case of "Less is Moore"!

Moore or less I suppose.

Maybe that's where he belongs!

He lives where he's happy, gets a lot of money and has far less chance of chronic pain in his old age. I think I'd do the same.

That works for drafted and undrafted QB's. They need to do the following:

Pay attention durning the week.
Get the coaches and the starter to trust them.
Pay attention during the game and have something to tell the started that helps him when he comes off the field.

Kubiak did it with Elway. Charlie Batch has done it with Big Ben. Maybe Matt Moore can do it with Tannehill.

David Carr has made a career out of it. In fairness though, Moore should wear a 49ers cap someday just to take some pressure off Colin. then again, maybe not such a good idea for the back up to do.

I'm actually kind of curious to see how Colt McCoy does with the 49ers. He's no threat to Kaep as a starter, but he might be a good fit to run the pistol for a game or two.

Sure. why not. Harbaugh is annoying, but he ain't a dummy.

Sort of looks like a young Dan Marino.
