08:01 AM ET 07.07 | With their differences in the rear-view mirror, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers argued in May that it's high time for Green Bay to retire Brett Favre's No. 4 jersey. The team sounds prepared to do so. Someday. On the heels of Mark Murphy's comments about wanting Favre "back in the family," the Packers President and CEO wrote Saturday on the team's official website that Favre "deserves to have his number retired for what he accomplished and meant to the Packers during his time here."

What Favre deserves is for the Packers to announce the retirement of his #4 then say it's not retired then say it is then it's not, then it is. That way the Fn interns could post the same stories about a thousand times each. No pain no gain! ;^D

Very nicely done FFE.

CNN needs to get Rachel Nichols out to his front yard to monitor this developing news story.

And then texted it.

Apparently it was a sad looking, tiny phone. Either that or he'd just gotten out of the pool.

It's good for the City and good for Brett, so get it done!!!!

Yes they do. Do it, get it over with, and let's move on with our lives.

Post of the year to me. Would be totally fitting.

But this story is also very old news. Both sides have said it should, and will get done for months now. Personally, even though I'm a huge Packer fan, I'd like to see the Packers retire his number the day AFTER he dies for all he put the team through at the end, but I can see where it would be a good PR move by the team to do it.

I am ok with it as long as they have a crocodile at midfield to help celebrate all the tears he will hammy up for the great event.

He deserves it. I'm just afraid they'll do it on a Monday night when the 4-letter network will milk it dry with Stuart Scott in full hyperbole mode, and probably asking Madden to come it for an interview.

Exactly. Drama Queen has another day. Hey, just do it, but do it by mail or something. Or some pre season game, just stop it with the BS love boat reunion thing if that is what they are thinking.

Actually, Green Bay already decided to retire the number 4 years ago, then changed their mind. Then about a year ago, they decided to retire it again, but alas, changed their mind again. More recently, they have decided to either retire the number or trade it, just not to a team in their own division.

Whatever.

Was that #4 or George Costanza?

Well, at least we get to keep talking about Favre until 2016.

Let the Jets retire it. LOL
