07:18 AM ET 07.08 | Five-star prospect Stanley Johnson is feeling special these days, and no wonder. [Johnson] is the only small forward in the 2014 recruiting class to hold a scholarship offer from the University of Kentucky. ... The strong, skilled, high-energy wing from Mater Dei High in Santa Ana, Calif., said he feels he's a priority for the Wildcats and appreciates that coach John Calipari seems to be targeting him, and only him, at his position. "That means, to me, they really want me and what they're saying is valid," Johnson said Saturday. ... "Having me be the only small forward Kentucky has offered is a big deal." He added: "They've told me before, 'You're our only guy, so when you make a decision, that's when we're going to move to somebody else.'"

Takes time. Kentucky's bagmen are now having to split their time between football and basketball.

It's really hurt the efficiency ratings and turn-around time for buying basketball players. Thus, the target of only ONE small forward being "offered" this year.

Progress in the $EC @ KY football hurts KY basketball

Well, KY bball has run roughshod over UK football for, well -- forever, so it's only fair.

Mater Dei players are overrated. If this kid is that good, then it will be a change in Kentucky's favor.

But, these retorts are made in good humor, as I (naively) accept the barbs to be as well. ;-)
