Oswalt experiment over

07:16 AM ET 07.09 | Roy Oswalt may have been an upgrade over Jamie Moyer, but the former's time may be up now, too, after injuring his hamstring on Sunday. Chances are the Oswalt experiment is over after just four starts, 0-4 record and a 7.64 ERA. ... After seeing the numbers Oswalt posted in five Double-A starts -- 3-2, 2.16 ERA, 25 strikeouts vs. seven walks -- I was eager to [see] how he could help the Rockies. And it wasn't just the raw numbers that influenced me. People I talked to, those who'd seen Oswalt pitch, were upbeat. Throw in the fact that his fastball was reaching 93 mph, and I was encouraged. It turns out I was wrong. ... Oswalt's breaking pitches fooled no one. And his fastball, despite its velocity, lacked the late movement that made him a dominant pitcher.

....astros should do the right thing, hire him, retire him....

Rangers fans could have told y'all...

He's done.

Otis - I was going to write the same thing. People should have known from last year this guy is DONE!!!

I enjoyed watching Roy pitch for a good number of years.

Two years ago Roy was seeking $10 million a year deal and I know that these teams that was looking at him then are so glad they didn't jump on that contract.

I did too... He was a stud in Houston. I actually got to see him at Round Rock back in the day.

He just needs to realize it's time to move on to whatever he was planning moving on to.

I think he was already pitching in Colorado like a fork was sticking out of his back.

Ranger fans knew before the Rangers did. They shouldn't have even tried him last year.

Yes an Phillies fans before that..............

July 9, 2013  09:07 PM ET

He doesn't have to go home but he's got to get the he ll out of here. Was hoping he would be successful. Not for the Rockies but was hoping he'd go out with his head held high.

Could probably still pitch and be effective if he would just realize he's not a power pitcher any longer...but some zebras can't change their stripes.....
