07:18 AM ET 07.09 | Of course, New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is anxious to return. [Jeter] said on Monday that he talked to general manager Brian Cashman to plead his case for returning to the big leagues ahead of the team's timetable. Jeter, who played in his third minor league rehab game with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday night, said he'd like to return to the Yankees "as soon as possible." When asked if he'd made that clear to Cashman, Jeter said, "What do you think? Yeah, but I get it. It's not like I don't understand why I'm here. I know I have to play some games, so just make the most of it while I'm here, and get into some games, and like I said, hopefully get out of here soon."

whats the hurry....if yanks can get him back on the field the second half......they will still finish dead last .....

Can't wait to have him back in the lineup.

Jeter should not rush back. when he does jeter will expect to play every day. If ther ankle is really healed fine. if it is still a little tender, Casmmen and Yankees should make it known that jeter will be eased back into playing every day. the last thing the Yankees want is for jeter to reinjure that ankle again. But , once they put Jeter in lineup they will never take him out.

Me neither. The thought of all the ground balls he won't be able to get to makes me smile.

What does Jeter want more, to be in New York, or out of Scranton?

Inquiring minds want to know.

The clips I saw he looked like a 70 year old man trying to run. His ego is pushing this one, not his present condition.

There's no fashion models to bang in Scranton, so I'd go with wanting out.

A broken ankle will take a step or two away from you.

Add in he had no steps to spare. And help he may or may not add to the offense is negated by his defense. He played SS like a rover in softball last year trying to hide his lack of range. Problem is, he does not have the arm to do that.

I watch or see 99% of all Yankee games every year. Cano spent as much time picking ground balls on the SS side of second base last year as Jeter did. Unbeleivable, and he has not had to do that once this year. Hmmmm?

Jeter my man, outstanding career, but it is time to know what you are and what you no longer are.

Yeah - his range has really declined over the past few years. He's never had the strongest arm, but always extremely accurate. I can see a lot of balls going through the left side with Rodriguez at third and Jeter at short. I'm sure Arod's lost a step or two as a result of his injury as well.

C'mon Moose, Jeter at short and A-Roid at the hot corner? Man, if Yankees fans squint and see maroon pinstripes instead of navy blue they'll think the have Bowa and Schmidt playing the left half of the infield. ;p

In the words of CSF, "stick a fork in them." Jeter, no doubt, will go down as one of the best SS's of all time..........and A-Fraud will go down as the equine with the best human torso.

The Yankee pitchers will be praying that every groundball gets hit towards Cano.

Everyone seems to know and realize this, except for Jeter and A Rod.

Pitchers will go to Hughes to find out his secret for leading MLB in fly ball outs ( or home runs).
