Decisions loom for Bengals

06:58 AM ET 07.10 | The contract situation with defensive end Michael Johnson, unofficially set to play this season on a one-year franchise tag, may be only the beginning. [Next March] is going to be more stressful. On the defensive line, Johnson, Carlos Dunlap and Geno Atkins could all become unrestricted free agents. With Johnson playing on the tag, the hope is that the team reaches an extension with Atkins sometime this season or that there is repeat from two years ago when Leon Hall, Andrew Whitworth and Kyle Cook reached extensions before the start of the regular season. ... With next year being the first time that the team can talk extensions with Andy Dalton and A.J. Green, it also isn't feasible where they could keep Atkins, Dunlap and Johnson.

With Mike Brown holding the money bag, it's feasible they all could walk.

It is the price you pay for getting better. The alternative is not that much fun.

I'm sure the Raiders will be just fine. Or the Colts or whichever team the article's talking about. Anybody else feeling very distracted by Hot Clicks Chick over there --->? I'd like to be distracted in person. Typing with no hands here. Anyway, back to the Jaguars. Or... who was it again?

That has to be the frustrating thing about the Bengals. They have tons of cap space. Yet they are such penny pinchers. Brown seems to be socking away the money for his own personal benefit instead of investing it into the team.

Hillbilly,

Next year? they let DE M,Johnson walk and franchise Geno Atkins.

And then? Got AJ Green and Dalton and a couple of other possible walk offs.

The way i see things? This year? Has too be a winning one and go for the playoffs and further,as Cincy can't afford too get all of them back. so Johnson walks.

it's kinda like they can afford too lose Johnson as opposed too Geno Atkins and AJ Green and Andy Dalton coming up for a new contract next year,so Johnson walks, and G.Atkins get's the franchise tag next year.

And this year is Cincy's best chance too go for it.

It's all on Gruden/Dalton and the Offense too show up.

On the field or off, the Bengals seem to be pretty consistent in their decision making.
