02:34 PM ET 07.10 | Chicago Cubs pitcher Matt Garza was reportedly talking an extension with the Cubs, but that is likely just the team looking to build leverage for a potential trade before the MLB trade deadline. Garza has been saying all of the right things in the media when it comes to his future with the Cubs, but privately he appears to be preparing himself for what everyone expects to go down in the next few weeks. The MLB trade deadline is July 31.

Make him pitch 3 more starts until the 27th. He doesn't have the nerve to get hurt before then.

The free agent market is so thin the next few years I wouldn't mind them hanging on to this guy. I mean unless the are able to break the bank by trading him I just don't see this working our well for the Cubs.
