Miami Heat considering amnesty clause

11:51 AM ET 07.11 | With Chris Andersen safe and secure, the Miami Heat have very few moves that they can make this offseason, and will most likely go into next year with a very similar roster, which isn't necessarily a bad thing for the back-to-back champs. However, the team could potentially use the amnesty clause to get rid of either Joel Anthony or Mike Miller, in an attempt to relieve the luxury tax burden. The Heat will not get under the luxury taxline by dumping either of the two guys, but owner Micky Arison could still save some serious dollar. Due to the new incremental tax system that has been employed with the new collective bargaining agreement, Miami would save $17 million by using the amnesty clause on Miller and around $10 million by dumping Anthony's contract.

Joel has to be a goner over Mike.

Agreed. Mike Miller my not be there most of the season. But the last to finals, he showed up and helped the team to win.

Yeah I agree, Miller is a gamer, and he isn't a choker. Come playoff time you need those players that don't choke.

Sounds simple enough, but there are a ton of chokers out there. Miller ain't one of em. Keep em.

Now Bonner. That's a choker.

Amnesty Joel sign either Oden or Byron Mullings.

Bonner - what a disgrace of a NBA player.

Miller is a baller. He earned his keep on both the championship runs.

Miller is decent. But $17M decent? I think not.

He's not making that much this is his last yr.I think he makes like 6....for his entire contract if it was a total of 17 he earned it on their first title he was the big difference he hit like 6-7 3s

Miller can hit a 3-pointer with only one shoe on. Joel would be lucky to catch a single pass with both shoes on, let alone make a layup. He's defensive tenacity is great and all, and I will always appreciate his contributions to the team, but if it comes down to Miller or Anthony, Miller wins by a landslide. Joel has got to go.

Amnestying Chris Bosh or Wade will be the right thing to do... but then just like Lakers are scared to let Kobe go.... Miami can't do the right thing either...
