06:57 AM ET 07.12 | America's Team may soon be a step closer to determining Josh Brent's future -- or having it determined for them. [Brent's] status on the Dallas Cowboys' roster is expected to be determined before the team travels to training camp next week, according to an NFL spokesman. The Cowboys will fly to Oxnard, Calif., on July 19 and hold their first practice July 21. The defensive tackle is currently eligible to take part in practice even though he did not take part in the offseason conditioning program, organized team activities and minicamp in the spring. The team has prepared as if Brent would not play in 2013 but has been waiting for the league office to make a ruling. Brent is charged with intoxication manslaughter after a December car accident killed practice-squad linebacker Jerry Brown.

This should have been "determined" a long time ago, J.J.

Jerrah's a coward.

I guess the owner doesn't have the sack to do what should have been done months ago...

Maybe Goodell does.

You're assuming Choirboy ever had one of those?

I can't believe this fool is back out on bail.

The great and powerful Oz can do a lot from behind the curtain.

July 12, 2013  08:38 AM ET

Seriously, what's the League waiting for? What is the court waiting for?

Justice delayed is justice denied.

Hey, look at Massachusetts. We're going after the Boston Strangler, even though he died in 1973. (For those who aren't up on the local politics, the press conference on this silly story yesterday included a candidate for mayor of Boston and the current Attorney General, who is running for Governess next year. It's all about face-time on TV, nothing else.)

Behind the curtain is probably where the priest hid it.

July 12, 2013  08:41 AM ET

That one's gonna get me censored again.

When he was re-released many days ago all the articles I could find couldn't explain how he got out. His bail was revoked until trial for his two failed drug tests, then boom, news is Brent is back out. Definitely some back alley lawyering going on.

Which hopefully in prison one day someone will say to him as they come up from behind him.

IF I were Jerry Jones, this POS would have been cut when he was joking around on the sideline after he killed his friend and teammate.

July 12, 2013  09:39 AM ET

The Cowboys should be cutting ties with him as fast as the Patriots cut ties with Hernandez. No way this guy doesn't re-offend soon.

Two buddies go out and get drunk together like they've done probably a hundred times before. Like everyone on this board has done hundreds of times before. This one time it ends in tragedy. Get over yourself, these are the kind of things that happen while your waiting to die. I'm sure no one feels worse about the whole mess than Brent.

He was let out on a Saturday. Highly unusual.

It's not like he just got hammered and had a wild night tipping some cows and tombstones. This guy had already been on probation for drunk driving. Then he does it again (who knows how many times), eventually killing a man. Who cares if Brent feels worse than anyone else? He should. He killed someone and he did it knowing what he was doing was dangerous and wrong. This isn't boys being boys, this is homicide. You can't just brush it off like it's no big deal. This ain't stealin' hubcaps we're talking about here.

Deep down, is this really about cap space? We've been told that the Patriots might have been better off cap-wise or at least salary-wise if they'd waited for the League to suspend Hernandez before releasing him. Is it the same with Brent?
