04:36 PM ET 07.12 | With all of the talk about the recovery of New England Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski, a detail emerged recently that puts his status for the season-opener in some serious doubt. While he has reportedly been making progress as he recovers from his flurry of back and arm surgeries this offseason, Gronkowski has yet to resume running. If Gronkowski is to remain on schedule, that means he should begin to run by next week.

I'll bet his running to Vegas every other weekend however.

Exactly. He likes running around partying, but gives a damn about his employer. I hope recent, er, events changes his ways. Great talent, but acts like a fool imitating WWE moves in Vegas while wearing a cast. Youth is wasted on the young.

So?

If it's this late and he hasn't even started running, this makes me concerned for the beginning of the season. He's going to have some serious work to do to get ready. I predict a serious drop off in production from this guy.

Given his surgeries over the past year, he may be ready to play by mid-season, maybe; a lot can still go wrong during rehab.

In solidarity with Aaron Hernandez, Gronk decides to quit running.
