Andre Iguodala almost joined Mavericks

04:38 PM ET 07.12 | The notion swirling around Dallas that the Mavericks and owner Mark Cuban have whiffed on free agents like Deron Williams and Dwight Howard got further solidified when Andrew Bynum signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Apparently, Andre Iguodala was one hour away from signing with the Dallas Mavericks before the Golden State Warriors ironed out a deal to land the coveted free agent instead. The Mavs failed yet again to land a big target free agent. If that doesn't have you believing the "free agents don't sign with Dallas" conspiracy, what will?

It must be tough playing for 2 head coaches.

Just Said No, Bros?

For goodness sakes, there are more stories on Mark Cuban than Dirk and Rick combined. I still believe in this bit from Jordan's retirement:

???Granted, I think organizations put together teams, but at the end of the day, the team???s got to go out and play. I think the players win the championship, and the organization has something to do with it, don???t get me wrong. But don???t try to put the organization above the players.???

Enough of Cuban already. I was annoyed when the Mavs won their championship and Mark was hogging all the glory, front/centre and parading the trophy around himself like he did everything. Earth to Mark: you're not one of the players, stop acting like you are.

They Ellis, Dirk, Vince, Marion, Jose. No true center and no bench at all, means no playoffs.

well that was a good turn of events if they were going to pay iggy a similar deal.dirk, marion, iggy, jose, vince ??I don't think that any other team in the NBA had/has an ALL 5 over 30 starting unit- that would've been a short and long term disaster

Similar to the Knicks?

Wow. Cuban really messed this team up.

I like him. He has more passion in his pinky than most professional sports owners have. He wants to win, and spends to attract players.

The Mavs' day will come.

I agree on both points with you here. Cuban does have passion unlike most others. I like him very much and was hoping he could have purchased the Dodgers. Would have been good for Big Blue.

Also, yes, the Mavs' day will come. But in this case...

Cuban will kill another shot at repeating...

um, you turfing the convo onto another team, as you continue to do , doesn't change the underlying point.plus, if you don't already know- I am not a knick fan anymore.so I couldn't care less that being said- NY was really old and look where it got them, but their STARTERSweren't all over 30, only tyson and pablo was

I just dont see how he messed up.....

I mean the plan A that he had didnt work...Get Williams or Howard....But they would have never been in that position in the first place to even have a chance....

So maybe he missed calculated a bit but i think he has been looking toward the future and not just over a year or two....

Howard did you guys a Favor, You owe him one!!!
