09:03 AM ET 07.13 | the Heat remains very much in the running for center Greg Oden, with the Spurs, Celtics and Mavericks also receiving strong consideration. But Oden is taking it slowly and likely will not work out for teams until August. He believes he will be ready to play by the start of the season. Oden has had five knee operations and hasn't played in an NBA game since 2009.

He has been 'delayed' since 2009 and teams are still interested. I guess another few months wouldn't hurt...! ><

i know there's slim to none chance that this dude can actually play in an nba game but if he could he could be a solid role player off the bench for some one like the heat

[I]"Greg Oden may delay working out for teams"[I]...

It worked for Bynum and they played the same amount of games last season

QUOTE(#8):

but if you'd kept reading:

Logic would support your argument, however, someone just handed big green to Andrew Bynum, so Oden just might snarl a sucker yet.

Who was the last player to be drafted that was as good as advertised in almost every sense? Right now, I can only think of one. I'm beginning to think that professional athletics is becoming more and more of a con game, with, as the saying goes, "...a sucker born every minute."

I think Oden is done. Bynum too. They're too young to have physical issues this bad. Not a good sign for a long career.

If you're seven feet tall with a pulse the NBA will give you every possible chance to play. Look at how many "footers" were at the end of a bench somewhere with no game. Like Shawn Bradley, Bol, Nevins many, many others...
