10:03 AM ET 07.13 | With the heavy lifting portion of his offseason workload concluded, Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman will spend the next couple of weeks taking care of some loose ends. One of those is a contract extension for coach Joel Quenneville. "We're going to work on that,??? Bowman said Friday as the Hawks' annual prospect camp wrapped up at Johnny's IceHouse West. "It just has been breakneck speed finishing up (the season), the draft, free agency and then this camp." Bowman said he wants to extend Quenneville's deal, which runs through the 2013-14 season, before training camp begins in September. "It's always good to get those things done in the summertime and sort of clear the deck to focus on hockey in the fall," Bowman said.

Another thing Daddy told him to do?

Probably, I think he calls Papa more than we think. But losing Joel would be a mistake.

Ilya Kovalchuk, like so many Ruskies before him, has no honor. He has no code. They don't come over here to win. They come here to get. Not all of them but, way too many for my liking.

Who's next? Alex Ovechkin? Alex Semin? Evgeni Malkin? Is this the first domino to fall? We'll see. Should be interesting.

Love how he lumps everyone together. And they are bashing him for when he told Lou, yet everything I read was Lou knew a few weeks before the draft. Cherry's the worst. He probably likes the junior rule of getting rid of the foreign goalies too. I hate anyone that bases an entire group on one player.

He has honor, to his family, be real. I hate to defend this guy. But they didn't grow up dreaming of a stanley cup like people here. They came here years ago because it paid by far the most money. That's what all athletes want (see soccer). So now that they can get paid big time at home, some might chose to go home. They can be by all their family and live a great lifestyle. See how easy it would be for all these North Americans to play in Europe or Asia, watch how many would come back (they did during the lockout)

Isn't that what I said? In my mind at least, all that adds up to no code. If you don't want to win a Stanley Cup with the team that pays you the big bucks, you have no honor. I don't believe there is a player born in North American who doesn't dream of winning the SC. Often their dreams are crushed by these selfish prima donas from overseas.

Apparently, Daddy gives him good advice.
