Niners still interested in Austin Collie

09:20 AM ET 07.13 | The 49ers remain interested in former Indianapolis Colt Austin Collie, but they are unlikely to make a move on the free-agent wide receiver until after training camp begins, a source close to the situation said this week. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because he didn't have authority to speak on the matter. One of the team's priorities this summer will be to see if any of its young, inexperienced wideouts perform well enough to warrant significant snaps when the regular season begins. If none proves himself worthy, an inexpensive veteran such as Collie would be of interest.

I hope he's able to stay healthy. If he gets another concussion, he should call it quits.

Collie needs to have his head examined.

Seriously.

His head has been examined, and he's been told not to play any further.

Hopefully the NFL makes the right decision for him, because he's unwilling to make it for himself.

He's been dogging it Otis.

If Collie can't play then he signs up for the concussion lawsuit.

How can Pat White put his name in the lawsuit and then miraculously get signed by the Redskins and withdraws his name.

If a player is diagnosed with a concussion then he should have to either opt out of the lawsuit or not be allowed to play again.

Can't have it both ways

He did. All the tests came back negative. And that wasn't a good thing.

Doesn't this guy have Concussion Issues?

Yeah - a few.

Currently the 49ers have 10 WR's on their 90 man training camp squad. Not counting Crabtree. Boldin is a lock at his position. Those battling for the other 2 WR positions are Mario Manningham, Kyle Williams, A.J. Jenkins, Ricardo Lockette, Quinton Patton, Chad Hall, Marlon Moore, Chuck Jacobs, and Kassim Osgood. The 49ers will not need to look for an outside source until after their 1st preseason game against Denver on Aug 8th. If the 49ers cannot find 4 decent WR's out of these players then the 49ers need to fire their WR Coach and Scouting person. I would rather they try out Terrell Owens before Collie. Is Brandon Lloyd still out there or did someone sign him ? If the 49ers are really in doubt about all the WR's in camp then they should should have signed Lloyd.

How many Veteran WR's are still unsigned out there. Lets not forget that Randy Moss is still out there and might be enticed to come back for another season.

WHAT!?!? Be careful what you ask for, because if that comes true, that is a nightmare for a team.

And Aaron Hernandez is a free Agent!!!

July 13, 2013  08:50 PM ET

I'm all for personal freedom in as much a person can decide for themselves if they want to place their body in danger. But with his history of head injuries, somebody needs to sit him down and explain to him he's a danger to himself.

Why ask for an Austin Collie when you can have a German Shepherd.

No offense, but you can't be serious. I'd look at Ocho before him after how he dogged it in the Super Bowl.

Hernandez is a VRFA: VERY restricted free agent.

George Zimmerman is available now.

SF will be fine. A great running game and they've also got Davis at TE. Between Davis and Boldin, that'll open up the field for some one else to step up. If either Jenkins or Patton produce, or if Manningham comes back from injury they'll be just fine. The main concern should be hoping D Coordinators haven't figured Kap out yet. That alone will allow them to have 1 on 1 coverage on short and intermediate routes.

The jury made the right call. I'm sure he could use a nice signing bonus to get out from under the legal fees; and you know he's going to have to move to another state.
