09:40 AM ET 07.14 | A-ROD went AWOL -- creating yet another tension point in the already-stressed relationship between the one-time star and the Yankees. Following Alex Rodriguez's meeting in Tampa on Friday with Major League Baseball officials investigating his ties to performance-enhancing drugs and Biogenesis, A-Rod was scheduled to play for the Single-A Tampa Yankees. However, sources told The Post Rodriguez never showed up for what was going to be his seventh rehab game, and organization officials were scrambling to find him. Eventually, sources said, Rodriguez informed the Yankees he was not going to play Friday, which infuriated team officials.

Is there another city in the U.S. Doesn't seem like it does it.

It's NYC, just living there makes you crazy.

I hope that is not a photo from the meeting with MLB offices showing them how big the needle was.

It must be depressing if you are not a NY Giants fan. Jets, Knicks, Yanks, Rangers....I hope Maryjuanie is given out freely.

isn't it time that NY just either buys him out or pays him to be gone.I would love to see cash and the steinbrenners just say we are done with him, we are going to pay his remaining salary, but he is not allowed to come near the stadium and he will not be playing ball anymore.I know it's not my 100+ million that they would be 'wasting'....but it would send a major message to us fans that they are aware that no one wants to see him anymore, that they recognize their mistake and are going to move on and it really isn't about $ as much as it is the game.

Nah...I want to see this contract play itself out.

I imagine A-Rod has that look from the photo on his face all the time.

Agreed, this is too much fun to cut short--Yankees and ARoid in an arm wrestling match, with $100million on the line!
How much better can it get?

After the meeting with MLB he came to the realization that 2013 was over. No need to waste his time generating a gate for the Single A team.

Yep. No point in a rehab game if you're about to be suspended for the next year.

He's not going to play a whole lot of games. Maybe none. Good.
