Cubs asking price for Matt Garza is 'very high'

11:56 AM ET 07.14 | Matt Garza of the Chicago Cubs is the hottest name in baseball right now with his name involved in so many MLB trade rumors, but here is one that should not shock you -- the Cubs are still asking for a huge amount in return for his services. Plenty of teams such as the Cleveland Indians have been keeping tabs on Garza and presumably have an interest in trading for him. According to reports, the price for his services remains very high. Of course the price remains high with so many days left until the deadline. Remember that rumors had floated around recently that the Cubs were also interested in extending his contract. That is highly unlikely at this point, but it does look like a way for them to drive the asking price up.

Asking price very high? The problem is no teams want to give up anything of value, period. They would rather give up Dead End Palookas in a one sided deal much like last years trades. I would almost rather see Garza get his *wish* to remain a Cub

I'd say the hottest name in baseball pitched a no-hit game for SF last night.

I think Chris Davis remains the hottest name of the baseball season up to now.

If they sell him to the Cardinals, they are complete morons.

If Cubs trade Garza they would prefer to trade him to AL. Certainly not to a NL Central team. Cubs would not want to play another NL central team and have Garza pitch against cubs and burn cubs every time cubs faced Garza. Indians or orioles would be interested in Garza. Maybe Angels or KC.

Hopefully the Pirates stay away from Garza. I've read reports that the Pirates were one of the teams scouting Garza.
