01:32 PM ET 07.14 | The maturation of Johnny Football continues to be a labor-intensive process. Our boots on the ground in Thibodaux, La. -- believe it or not, we have them -- informed us that Johnny Manziel was sent home from the Manning Passing Academy on Saturday afternoon by Archie Manning himself. Our source, who wishes to remain anonymous because of his connection to the camp, gave us the scoop after Manziel showed up tardy Saturday afternoon after being out on the town Friday night. The Texas A&M star reportedly enjoyed himself a little too much Friday night and rolled back into the camp at Nicholls State University some time around noon Saturday before getting the boot. Manziel was supposed to participate in the "Air It Out" competition along with other top collegiate passers Saturday evening. He didn't. Camp officials told local media that Manziel "is sick" and was no longer at the camp. But our source claims he was kicked out at the behest of Manning paterfamilias Archie. Granted, if Manziel was hungover as hell, the official party line of being sick might not even qualify as a little white lie. But unless he mysteriously ate some bad etoufee, it appears this illness was brought about by some behavioral choices.

Possibly...I was thinking that JF has the POTENTIAL of a Jamarcus Russell to make it in the NFL....MH doesn't have anything past college BB.

MH won't lose out on anything as he wouldn't have made anything.

JF could lose out on millions...

The A&M team does not need this constant distraction. They do, however, have some highly-rated and talented QBs ready to step in. if need be We'll see how Sumlin manages this situation going forward.

MH is one heck of an offensive presence. I think along the lines of Stephen curry or maybe even Reggie Miller, but too stoopid or addicted to fulfill the possibilities

Heard similar things about JM in HS. There's a reason only 3-4 schools offered him. Was talking with a friend about who is the biggest Texas athlete pr disaster. Only dif is JM gets most of his money from dad, where MH was having to print his up.

This kid really let winning the Heisman go to his head.

July 14, 2013  02:14 PM ET

And THIS is one of the reasons the Heisman was not awarded to a freshman ... until now.

July 14, 2013  02:16 PM ET

He's a work in progress, too much exposure too soon, but still a talented FB player.
He needs an older male mentor badly; where's his father?

July 14, 2013  02:17 PM ET

Maybe Archie will mentor him!

His parents didn't help him any... Pictures of him out getting drunk with his parents by his side showed who set the rules in his upbringing.

He's knocking his draft value down with regularity.
