07:06 AM ET 07.15 | Yes, Metta World Peace may yet wind up playing his show on Broadway. [World Peace] wants to play for the New York Knicks, according to a person close to the veteran small forward. World Peace cleared waivers late Sunday afternoon, making him an unrestricted free agent. A source told ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst that the Knicks, who can offer him part of their taxpayer mid-level exception [roughly $1.7 million], already have reached out to the former Los Angeles Laker. While the Knicks are World Peace's first choice, he is also holding onto the Los Angeles Clippers and China's Shanghai Sharks as possible teams to join next season. World Peace spoke Sunday with Yao Ming about playing in Shanghai, a source said.

On a cheap, 1 year deal.....he has good value And the Knicks desperately need some defense and toughness at the forward spot

The Knicks will need divine intervention to salvage their season.

MWP will take the highest bid between the Clippers and the Knicks. Both teams need World Peace to add to their rotation. Clipps would be fine because he wouldn't need to move and he can make them into a contender. NY would be fine because it's his hometown and they do need another SF for defense. Don't forget that he can also post up smaller SFs...

Will They Give Peace A Chance, Bro?

Maybe the eastern philosophy and culture will be more understanding of this overpaid underachiever.

He should go to Syria. We all could use some Peace in the Middle East.

Come on Ron, come to the Knicks!

If he dont sign with the Knicks, he should consider signing with the Cavs. He can shore up the small forward spot!

Underachiever? He was one of the best at defense, DPOY, won a championship and single handedly beat the crap out of six fans at the Palace.

Six people mind you. You try that.

I still think he ends up with the Clippers. Seems like a good fit and he continues with a contender.

I doubt that Metta would play for Doc.

In Detroit, no less!

This guys is so not worth it... His defensive dominating days have long passed him. Let alone his horrible shot selection. He would do a lot more harm then good in New York.

If he wants to go to a contender he is coming off the bench as a rotation player. The Clippers bench is sort of crowded at the SF position with Dudley, Barnes. Knicks would be his best fit if he just wants to play he can go to the Bobcats or China

Why wouldn't they sing him to a vet minimum? What ever they sing him to the $$ goes to the Lakers, right? Lakers still have to pay him out on his contract, it just came off the cap, no?
