07:11 AM ET 07.15 | A bride named Samantha Jones paid nearly $6,000 to hold her wedding at TCF Bank Stadium, and, for an extra few hundred, the University of Minnesota added Goldy Gopher. Sherwin Williams has held large trade shows. ... General Mills used the stadium for movie nights, with the feature film showing on the large scoreboard. In an attempt to find revenue in unusual places, the university has been renting out its four-year-old football stadium for everything from weddings and bar mitzvahs to Tennant Company meetings and Comcast awards banquets. The president's suite, overlooking the field and featuring a built-in bar, rents for $600 for six hours. Wedding and bar mitzvah packages also offer an opportunity to rent the school's spirit squad and marching band.

So do the students in the spirit squad or the band get a cut of the money for their time and effort?

Costs a lot of money each year filling in all those holes, you know, from all them Gophers..........................hahhahahahahaha.

You're right, Colonel. The best way to increase revenue is to sell out the stadium on game days.

Highly doubtful. Bands and Spirit Squads are almost always a revenue drain to the athletic department. Someone has to fund their travel expenses to bowl games and other away games. It usually gets picked up by the athletic department.

I wish Minnie well. I sincerely hope that they come up with revenue schemes to pay for the stadium and planned future facilities improvements. Yes, selling out all home games is key, but incremental revenue is a good thing... Unless, the cost to operate and secure the facility for events exceeds the income received from same. That would be bad business.

You've not hit the big time as a stadium until a Monster Truck Jam has been hosted.
