The Longhorns have already picked up oral commitments from three members of Rivals national top 100 -- Aldine Eisenhower receiver Greg Timmons and Madisonville running back Chris Whaley committed today. Lake Travis quarterback Garrett Gilbert, a five-star recruit, committed earlier this week. Yea Yea....and they will still go 8-4

February 11, 2008  01:19 PM ET

But USC has EIGHT commitments from Rivals100 players... Where is that article SI?

Probably buried in the swimsuit issue with your avatar' pictoral spread...he's got the personality and charisma of a used tampon

Early commitments these days are like one night stands, they dont last very long and you're not real sure who's using who.....

February 11, 2008  02:17 PM ET

I know who's using who.

February 11, 2008  02:26 PM ET

"still go 8-4"??!! The Horns haven't had 4 losses in a season this decade.

February 11, 2008  02:26 PM ET

Yessir!!! Texas just got a soft verbal from this 5'10 185 defensive tackle. It should be noted he's projected to be the top DT of Rivals 100 of 2012. Can't until NSD 2012!

Can you confirm those stats?

February 11, 2008  04:13 PM ET

I just thought I would mention:
http://blogs.transworldnews.com/Brendan123456/Post.aspx?postID=12659

Matt Barkley, the No. 1 player in the class of 2009, committed to USC on Jan. 23 and has already been adorned some of the nation???s most prestigious awards.
The 6-foot-3, 224-pound quarterback from Mater Dei H.S. in Santa Ana, CA was named Rivals.com???s Junior of the Year Award and became the first junior to ever win the Gatorade National Player of the Year.

February 11, 2008  04:16 PM ET

Jabril, I think you might have forgot to read the thread above this one about the next great USC quarterback (which there are many). The stats you posted might very well be on that thread already.

February 11, 2008  04:40 PM ET

uh, yea, i can confirm that texas has not had four losses in a ten year stretch. Aside from having 7 consecutive 10 win seasons, Mack Brown has not had less than 9 wins in each of his seasons at texas. the year before he got to texas, 1997, texas went 4-7, last losing season, and the last with at least 3 losses.

February 11, 2008  04:46 PM ET

and as far as usc, si has a 2 page article on the early commitment of Matt Barkley, so relax about being so "overlooked". As if usc doesn't get about half the coverage on signing day every year anyway, god forbid u don't get at least 90% of the coverage on the cfb page year-round.

D SLIQ Yes, I know, I just ike the sound of it.

February 11, 2008  06:39 PM ET

It's alright...OU will still BEAT TEXAS this year and every year.

February 11, 2008  06:43 PM ET

Yes, UT fans be proud of winning 10 games a year (and not all against Division I competition, i.e. Sam Houston State)...without Vince Young, no Conference Championships, no BCS bowl games...stuck in a cotton Bowl/Holiday Bowl cycle...yep, I' m jealous.

February 11, 2008  09:55 PM ET

LOL well first to the truth, your ignorant and check your stats before your post. As for the usc posters, you always have a good batch of recruits. And thats why every season that yall don't win a 'ship it's a huge disappointment. Pete Carrol says that his only objective is to win Rose Bowls...thats good in all but only every four years. And if I remember correctly they lost the last Rose Bowl that mattered. (2005, HOOK 'EM HORNS) But yea Barkley is going to be good, but so is Gilbert!

As for the uneducated ou fan, don't worry yall looked good against us, but what about tech and the Fiesta Bowl part II??? HMMM The next four years of the red river rivalry are up for grabs. I'm not blinded enough to think we will win all of the next four...but i'll gladly take 3 of the next 4!

HOOK 'EM HORNS!!!! Ohh we just got another stud OL recruit!!!

February 11, 2008  10:04 PM ET

Too bad you don't have a stud running back Bacon to run behind that o-line.

February 11, 2008  10:09 PM ET

Oh, and lay off Truth Mr Bacon. Checking stats before posting is lame.
