07:07 AM ET 07.16 | With one dream acquisition down, Houston is going for another. [The Rockets] were close Sunday to bringing the Dream back to the organization. Hakeem Olajuwon, a key part of the Rockets' recruiting efforts to land Howard and a large part of the festivities Saturday after Howard signed, will rejoin the Rockets in an official capacity for the first time since he spent the final season of his career with the Toronto Raptors in 2002. Olajuwon's duties and title are being discussed, and he will spend much of the year at his home in Jordan. But he will work with Rockets interior players, as he does with big men around the NBA each offseason, as a team employee. "We are going to bring him in as full-time as is possible," Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said.

Organizations do this all the time.....
They'll pay him to show up for some events, some training camp stuff, photo ops
Its a good deal for both sides

It's kept Kareem in the Staples Center. That's the upside to being a legend at that position. You can mentor every center your team brings in.

The downside for the Lakers was they had to hear KAJ bithc about his statue until they finally put one up (earlier than was planned)...

Hopefully Hakeem and McHale can help this guy. Dwight has been in the league 10 years. He may very well be the league's best big man, but he's the same player today he was 10 years ago. He's still subject to silly fouls, he's no better from the freethrow line, and still has no "go to" move on the block.

Mchale can really help him out because the ball will surely go to him down low. 20 and 12 average proves that he has offense.

Can anything pacify him?
It's too bad Big Baby was already used.

maybe he'll help him out by getting him the ball more, but it won't "improve" his skill set.
He's had access to Patrick Ewing and Kareem Abdul Jabbar, two of the greatest centers in history, but he still has the same game. Will The Dream help? I hope so.
