07:13 AM ET 07.16 | Perhaps Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw has had a change of heart over his not starting the All-Star Game. "It hurts," Kershaw told reporters Monday. ... [NL manager Bruce Bochy] said that it doesn't matter that Harvey has the opportunity to pitch in front of his hometown fans -- his first-half performance merited the honor. "Kershaw, (St. Louis Cardinals starter Adam) Wainwright, all of those guys were candidates," Bochy said. "I just think we've got the perfect guy, with the year he's had, and he plays for the Mets." ... Kershaw expressed his disappointment with Bochy's decision, saying, "That's (Bochy's) opinion." He has previously said, however, that he's "got no problem" with Harvey starting at his home ballpark.

Kershaw starting to get full of himself? It the #*@!ing ALL STAR GAME for cryin' out loud.............

You need to zone in on starting the first game of the WS instead of a All-Star game that no one will remember next week.

Rub some money on the hurt and get over yourself.

What should hurt is the pisspoor run support he's gotten this season. The guy has a 1.98 ERA and a 0.908 WHIP and he's only 8-6.

I bet players take a lot of pride in starting, or even appearing in, an All-Star Game. I could see it meaning more to them than it does to us. It would to me if I was a player.

Regarding focusing on the WS, that's a ridiculous comment. He's one of the top pitchers in the majors, and I'm sure he's focused on every start he makes.

True that, I hear he has Josh Becquette mentoring him on 'focus'.............

Thought I read on here the other day that Kershaw thought Harvey should start the All-Star game. Now he's kind of hurt that he wasn't selected as the starter? I would think Harvey would get a great applause from the hometown fans no matter when they started using him. Kershaw deserved the start in my opinion.

That's the part I remember. Now - all of a sudden - he's hurt. Wish he would speak with the consistency he pitches....

I do agree with you about the players feelings. I'm just thinking he was talking two faced then about not having a problem with Harvey starting as he stated a few days back.

Good point. Wonder if he had actually qualified what he said - but they did an NBC on him.....

That's why I loved Rasheed Wallace's "both teams played hard" answers.

July 16, 2013  10:17 AM ET

In fact - that is an FN travesty to be going this slow.

Bochy stated that Harvey deserved to start the all star game no matter where it was to be played. That's where Kershaw responded, "It hurts."

Better context. But wouldn't you want your starter actually to think that he is starting - because he earned it, and NOT because it was in NY?
