07:20 AM ET 07.16 | Considering the headlines, SEC media days this week should be interesting for quarterback Johnny Manziel. [Manziel] has apologized to the Aggies coaching staff and is being advised to be honest about what led to his much-discussed departure last weekend from the Manning Academy, a source told ESPN. The Heisman Trophy winner did not finish his scheduled stay as a college coach/counselor at the camp in Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La., because he missed assigned meetings and practice sessions, apparently due to illness. ... [Manziel] was "very upset" as he headed home from the academy and has privately conceded that he needs to continue to mature, the source said. He is preparing for an anticipated difficult line of questioning at media days.

Yes...Yes he does

This takes stating the obvious to a whole new level.

Admitting a problem and doing something about it are two different things.

You might want to start with telling your daddy to go pound sand, Johnny.

He ain't helping.

This is getting crazy every other story has to do with Johnny boy. There must be a host of reporters that do nothing but follow him around.

Anyone who's raised a teenage boy understands the challenges that hormones, emotions, and adult expectations bring to a young man.
Add national attention and acclaim to the mix and it gets really complicated.
Let's hope this talented young man gets some good advice and role models from the adults around him.

He was so upset that he headed over to his favorite watering hole.

It all begins by being honest with himself. Some of his actions suggest he may have a problem with alcohol.

If TAMU actually brings Manziel to Birmingham for SEC Media Days and puts him in front of the media, then they deserve to be busted down to DIII. Clean the whole damn place out - the board, the administration, the athletic department... and send animal rescue to the stock pens.

If he wants to be a first round draft choice, he needs to grow up to about 6 feet 4 inches

July 16, 2013  09:21 AM ET

Welcome to the CFL Johnny. No need to mature up there when you are carrying a clipboard for the Roughriders.

Not yet.

One thing about it... Peyton Manning is the poster boy for a "professional". No slacking at anything he does, even his camps. He even gave "Johnny Football" a nice endorsement and departure quote to the media on his departure. Peyton is the man.

He likes the limelight. He likes the celebrity. The stuff that is hounding him is the natural progression of wanting the limelight and celebrity.
