NFL's No. 1 receiving corps

07:07 AM ET 07.17 | Among a list that includes the likes of Green Bay, New York and Dallas in the NFC, and Denver in the AFC, one team stands above the rest with the NFL's top receiving corps. 1. Atlanta Falcons: Julio Jones, Roddy White, Harry Douglas, Tony Gonzalez. It's the rare NFL team in possession of a cornerback capable of hanging with Jones in man coverage. If defenses opt for double coverage, White can feast on the lesser cornerback. Although Gonzalez no longer makes plays after the catch, he's among the league's most valuable security blankets on third downs and near the end zone. Douglas has been a mild disappointment as the fourth option in the passing game, showing little playmaking ability through four seasons.

And yet, if the Saints return to form, they might not even make the playoffs.

Still eliminated 2nd round of the playoffs.

And Seattle should have knocked them out in the first round.

They don't have to worry about the Cowboys making it.

Oh, ye of little faith.

The Cowboys played for the NFC East title on the last night of the season in 2012, right?

Who cares, their defense is still awful.

Love how people make blanket statements without data to back it up. Looking at Tony's numbers for "total yds"/"yds after catch"/"% after catch" for last 5 years -

2012 - 930 / 259 / 27.8%
2011 - 875 / 255 / 29.1%
2010 - 656 / 194 / 29.6%
2009 - 867 / 240 / 27.7%
2008 - 1058 / 276 / 26.1%

So this show he is pretty consistent. And last year his total yds and after catch yds was 2nd highest in 5 years.

And if you want just pure yards after catch per reception average:

2012 - 2.8
2011 - 3.2
2010 - 2.8
2009 - 2.9
2008 - 2.9

Tony is a machine.

The writer makes it sound like Tony takes a knee or falls to the ground immediately after every reception.

I think what happens is that someone in media says something like this, and other just repeat without doing any actual research.

As a Cowboys fan, I have to agree with the article...

The Falcons have the best 3 pass catchers out there in Gonzo, White and Jones.

Dallas is super close though people with Witten, Bryant and Austin...Austin's injuries keep them from being more.

July 17, 2013  09:14 AM ET

I think that the "DIVA Free" SAINTS should get a mention with Colston, Moore and Graham at TE. There should be something said for productive pass catchers without the drama!

And this article came from the fine staff of NFL.com.
